Dr. Soumya Swaminathan has been appointed as Principal Advisor in the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare for the National Tuberculosis Elimination Programme. Dr. Soumya is the former chief scientist of the World Health Organisation and has also previously served as the Director General of the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR).
